First Half Day of Winter Vacation (whew)
December 22, 2013 § 2 Comments
There’s only one word I can think of to sum up my (half) day of Winter Break: oi.
Between long nighttime walks, hot chocolate, and choir concerts at the school, my night consisted of a lot of sparkly beverages and panettone, not so much sleep. And today was an early morning. Four lessons, the last one of which consisted of learning Scottish and country dancing with all of the first years in their cute, little makeshift gym. I was a little bit out of breath by the time the last track played; clearly, I need to catch onto this zumba trend and get back into shape.
Then, it was time to wrap Christmas presents (or, er, present, as I only put together one this year):
I wanted to be cute and pull off that cliché Christmas surprise, where you get on a train and go half-way across the country and surprise your significant other…. Except that the train had a 4.5 hour delay (the length of the trip itself), so I stumbled zombie-version onto the Ancona train platform at 3:30 AM. And then it was more like me waking everyone up in the middle of the night and eating out the whole fridge instead of decorating the house and waiting for people with a home-cooked dinner.
At least Trenitalia handed out emergency food baggies somewhere between 1 and 2 AM?:
While rattling away on the train, I began to scribble with my pen…. but, after a few hours, the ink ran out. Alas, atmospheric cellist:
I am ready for this vacation to get into its Vacation Mood.
