Non essere un parabolone!

October 16, 2012 § Leave a comment

Whilst researching current events in Italy for an oral presentation, I found this:

L’Ufficio Resurrezione

Sabrina D’Alessandro is an avid pioneer of preserving the Italian language, and does this in a very aesthetic manner.  As an exhibition, she created a cemetery of deceased words, which consisted of filling the walls of the museum with sheets of paper containing ‘dead’ words, as well as piling up discarded words in the middle of the floor.

And as an installation project, D’Alessandro placed dozens of red balloons throughout the city of San Sepolcro, each with a deceased word attached to it.

Not only is this a wonderful crusade, but the video and installation makes me smile.  A lot.

Everyone, go learn a new word today.
